Historical Museum: Five buildings filled with furniture,
vintage cars, and artifacts from 1800-1900. Located at 212
N. 2nd Street.
Alta:
Alta
Main Street: The water divide for the Mississippi River and
the Missouri River
Buffalo Ridge Wind Farm: One of the largest wind power
projects in the world. Includes 257 wind turbines surrounding
Alta and extending north. Provides electricity for approximately
70,000 households.
Hanover Historical Village: Composed of a restored General
Store built in the 1890s, a Genealogical Center, restored
machine shed, mill house, and 1930s home. Tours by Appointment.

a step back in time as you visit the Hanover Historical Village.
The restored country general store showing original furnishings,
old time barber shop, unique two story machine shed, and old
time home provide an experience from long ago. The working
mill house with its pulleys, shafts, and belts as well as the
display barn with old time agricultural displays also provide
an insight into agriculture from years past. The restoration of a blacksmith shop is also in progress.
Mark your calendars for the Annual Hanover Festival held in 2007 on August 26th. Karl and the Country Dutchmen along with Malek's Fishermen are planning to help us celebrate our festival with toe tapping polka and old time music to listen and dance to. All buildings will be open and numerous displays, demonstrations, games and petting zoo will be enjoyed by all. Food is also available. Gates open at noon with music from 12-7pm. Admission will be charged to all over 14 years of age. Free parking. Bring your own lawn chair..

Marathon:

Area Historical Society: Home of the LM&O Railroad Museum,
1000 feet of track, two ride-on motor cars, depot with fully
equipped business car and caboose, refurbished post office,
and other restored buildings. Kids’ hand-crank cars
(scale models).
Marathon to Marathon: This sanctioned marathon is fast,
flat and fun! This uniquely named marathon begins in Storm
Lake and completes its 26.2 mile distance in the BV County
town of Marathon. Not quite ready for the challenge? Put together
a marathon relay team or participate in the 5K Run/Walk. And
for all runners, spectators and guests, enjoy the meals and
